Washington state just handed shops a compliance win. Effective Oct. 18, insurers face new claims-handling standards with real teeth. Meanwhile, AirPro and Revv merged into a single ADAS platform, signaling where the calibration world is headed.

1. Washington insurance commissioner overhauls claims handling standards
Washington's new rule, effective Oct. 18, resets minimum standards for how insurers handle claims. The changes are extensive and give shops clearer ground to push back on unreasonable supplements or denials. This is a regulatory tailwind for appraisal disputes and OEM-required calibrations.

2. AirPro and Revv merge into unified ADAS platform
Rotunda Capital Partners acquired Revv and merged it with AirPro Diagnostics to create a single end-to-end ADAS workflow. The combined platform aims to cut cycle time, lock OEM compliance, and streamline insurer documentation. This consolidation signals where independent shops should be looking for their calibration ecosystem.
Mark says: If you run either platform, expect updates. If you don't, watch the roadmap-integrated workflows are the industry standard now.
3. GM restricts front frame rail ordering for BEVs
General Motors has placed an ordering restriction on front frame rail sections for battery electric vehicle repairs. The restriction limits when and how shops can source these parts, which affects workflow and parts availability on EV collision repairs. This is a distribution control move that touches every shop with EV volume.
Mark says: Check your current GM BEV frame rail jobs. Call your parts supplier to confirm you're not stuck mid-repair.
4. MOTOR updates labor guide: radiator support mechanical components change in 2027
Starting with 2027 model year vehicles, MOTOR removed mechanical component R&I/R&R labor from radiator support replacement estimates. Shops will need to bid those components separately going forward. This is a scoping change that will hit your estimates if you don't flag it in your estimating system.
Mark says: Update your labor guide in MOTOR now. Train estimators on the split before 2027 jobs start rolling in.
5. California BAR revises storage fee regulations; public comment open
The California Bureau of Automotive Repair released a second modified proposal on storage fees charged by repair dealers. Public comment is open. The rules continue to shape what shops can charge for holding vehicles, which affects your cash flow on long-tail repairs and storage disputes.
