2. I-CAR RTS develops guidance after DEG inquiry signals repair gap

The move signals that the industry is actively mapping holes in current OEM and repair documentation. This guidance will likely become a reference tool shops cite in estimates and denials.

3. Hyundai Motor Group mandates Level 2+ by 2028, standardizes sensors
Hyundai announced it will put NVIDIA-based Level 2+ automated driving systems into production in the first half of 2028, with Level 2++ systems in the second half. The group is also standardizing sensor platforms across its brands, Kia and Genesis. This standardization simplifies your calibration playbook but increases the volume of ADAS work on newer models hitting collision bays in 24 months.

4. eBay bans airbag and inflator sales effective Sept. 24
eBay announced it will prohibit the sale of airbags and inflators on its platform starting September 24. The move targets the counterfeit parts pipeline that has contributed to safety failures and customer liability exposure. This reduces a major source of gray-market airbags entering the repair supply chain.

5. Carfax: 27% of rideshare and taxi fleets carry unfixed recalls
Carfax examined taxis and rideshare vehicles across 16 major U.S. cities and Maryland, finding at least one unfixed safety recall on about 27 percent of them. Many of these recalls involve ADAS and safety-critical systems. The finding highlights the work collision shops can capture by running recall checks on every incoming vehicle and flagging drivers to OEM dealers before they return to the road.
